Create installation USB stick (WINDOWS, Linux etc.)

A step by step guide on how you can easily create installation USB stick (WINDOWS, Linux etc.).

WINDOW is known for the fact that it can happen very quickly that you need a USB installation stick to repair WINDOWS. This problem rarely or never occurs with Linux, but perhaps one or the other would like to try Linux as an alternative to WINDOWS. After all, you can read in the trade press, here an article in Chip, that more and more users are turning their backs on WINDOWS (German Artikel).

General

You can download the “Rufus” tool used here easily and free of charge, as shown in the video

An alternative to “Rufus” is the tool “Ventoy”, you can find everything about “Ventoy” in this article and video.

Boot any ISO-file with Ventoy

To create the installation USB drive you need:

• Rufus
• An ISO file of WINDOW, Linux or whatever else you want to install from the USB drive.
• A USB stick or USB hard disk (minimum memory size 32 GB, bootable)

IMPORTANT !

The drive that you specify in “Rufus” to create the USB drive will be completely deleted. If you are using a USB hard disk, all existing partitions on this drive will also be deleted, this also applies to USB sticks!

A good distribution for Linux users is Linux Mint, an Ubuntu Linux. You can download it here, for example.
