Cloudflare will inform you when you log in that your standard certificate is about to expire and needs to be updated. If you do not log into your Cloudflare account regularly, you may also receive this notification by email.

This is how you proceed:

  1. Log in to Cloudflare
Log in to your Cloudflare account if you have not already done so.
  2. Notification of certificate renewal
At the top, below the menu, you will see a message (see video) that your certificate is about to expire. Click on Renew certificate.
  3. Generate new certificate
Select the Generate new certificate option to create a new certificate.
  4. Activate certificate
Go back to the certificate overview. In the line of the newly created certificate, you will find three dots on the far right. Click on it and select Activate certificate.
  5. Apply certificate
Return to the overview and click on the new certificate again. A screen with the certificate details appears on the right-hand side.
  6. In the middle you will see an area highlighted in blue. Click on this area to use the certificate now.

Checking the overview
You will now see the following in the overview:

  • Your old certificate with the status Active.
  • Your new certificate with the status Active and In use.

That’s it! Your certificate has been successfully updated and is now active.
