Important note on restoring deleted files
It is crucial to stop using the drive on which the deleted files were stored. Disconnect an SD card or external hard disk from the PC immediately until the data has been restored. If the files are on the system hard disk C:, you should switch off the PC until you have restored the files.
Why is this important? Quite simply: Windows is constantly reading and writing to the hard disk. As long as the deleted file has not yet been restored, there is a risk that new data will be written to the memory area where the deleted file is located. This area is marked as free by the operating system, which can lead to the file being irretrievably overwritten.
If this happens, the file cannot be restored!
You should also not install the “MiniTool for recovering deleted files” on the drive from which you want to recover the deleted files.
Tip 👍
It is best to install the MiniTool for recovering deleted files in advance, before you actually need it.
This way, you can simply start the MiniTool when you need it and begin the recovery process immediately without having to deal with the problems mentioned above.

Creating a boot USB stick or an ISO file
There is a simple solution to get around the problem with Windows on the C:\ drive:
Create a bootable USB stick or ISO file and use this media to boot your PC without loading Windows itself.
You should already be familiar with booting from a USB stick, so I won’t go into this any further.
Using the ISO file with “Ventoy” or “Rufus”
In the following blog posts you will find the corresponding instructions for using “Ventoy” or “Rufus”:
