Taxes in Thailand the banks

Taxes in Thailand the banks are now coming around the corner and collecting data and recording your tax number!

Kasikornbank (K-Bank) seems to be the first bank to contact foreign account holders with an email containing several forms.

Important deadline

According to K-Bank, these forms should be completed and returned by e-mail by 20.12.2024 at the latest.

Challenges when filling in

At first it wasn’t clear to me where exactly which information had to be provided and why. Unfortunately, a phone call to the hotline did not provide the necessary clarity either.

In the video, I briefly introduce the three forms and explain what they probably contain. I assume no liability for the accuracy of the information provided, as the forms offer little help or explanations on how to fill them out, which makes things complicated.

Language as a hurdle

The forms are written in Thai and English, which makes the situation even more difficult for many of you.

My approach

I contacted my bank branch, and lo and behold: no problem, as I already have a tax number.

The process seems to be easier with an existing tax number. If this is missing, a form is enclosed with which you can apply for a tax number.

Documents required for the bank appointment:

  • Passport
  • Tax number (if available)
  • Bank book (was asked for, but is not mandatory)
